At the age of 34, Amanda Stevens found a lump in her breast while breastfeeding her two month old daughter, Violet. She would soon be diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer and was given a poor prognosis. Sixteen rounds of chemotherapy followed, a double mastectomy and thirty-three radiation treatments. Then two breast reconstruction surgeries, a total hysterectomy with oophorectomy and treatment for a DVT blood clot.
Amanda has been cancer free since 2014. She attributes the horse to giving her peace, strength and courage during her chemo and radiation treatments as well as after treatment, living with the anxiety of being a cancer survivor.
“It is my passion to share with others the abilities that horses have to heal.
Whether it is riding a horse or just spending time with them, the mental and physical benefits a
a human can receive from a horse is immeasurable.”
For more about Amanda's story, her husband Steve chronicled their cancer journey in a blog entitled Running with the Pink Horses.

In 2021, Amanda created a program in Honeoye Falls, New York that paired cancer patients and survivors with wild mustangs. The work was powerful and healing for many.
Amanda is moved beyond words to now be continuing to share that magic through Enchantment Equine in Burleson, Texas.
Amanda has been a professional horse trainer for 20 years, alongside her husband Steve. They are the owners of Stevens Natural Horsemanship and have given numerous horsemanship clinics across the country.
